[et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]Sometimes things are just plain fun and end up with great results!
Such is the case with the idea conceived by Dr. Peter Sheerin, a renowned theriogenologist from Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital who will be receiving the Harness Horse Youth Foundation’s Service To Youth Award at The Red Mile on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
HHYF President Allison Conte provided details of the events which led to Dr. Sheerin’s selection. “The office phone rang one morning and Dr. Sheerin said he wanted to shave his head live on Facebook to benefit HHYF. Of course, we were delighted with his lighthearted gesture but honestly had no idea of its potential. When he added the further enticement of shaving his mustache of 30 years if $5000 could be raised, things really got rolling. In fact, his wife Barb made sure we reached the goal with a last minute donation of her own which was a surprise announcement as the camera and clippers were running.”
The Shearin Dr. Sheerin’s fundraiser success was entirely due to Dr. Sheerin’s fun loving nature as well as his Rood & Riddle colleagues, friends and family.
